Strategy and business transformation for the Nuclear Supply Chain

Client Requirement

As a relatively small organisation, the client required external advice and input on a wide range of business initiatives. These included long-term strategy, business structures, change and transformation, executive and management development, IT assessment and practical operating model improvements. Over a period of 6 years, over 15 separate projects were completed.

OUR ROLE

We were engaged as experts in strategy, transformation, sales development, operating model and IT, to work on multiple projects as part of the management team. Our roles included:

  • Development of a set of strategic options, decision criteria and analyses for the long-term future of the business
  • Updating the business strategy written 5 years previously, to ensure currency and relevance
  • Providing an analytical framework for developing interpersonal relationships across the Board and management team, to foster teamwork and collaboration
  • Delivery of a set of tools and techniques for account management and development, sales pipeline management and deal qualification
  • Creation and implementation of a set of process and operating model improvement actions across the organisation
  • Analysis of the business issues with the core IT applications suite and created a change management programme to improve the use of IT

Business Outcome

Transformational change in the organisation was driven by the development and implementation of:
  • New and radical strategic options for the long term, including analyses of new business structures
  • Executive and management team skills and ways of working, with improved teamwork and definition of roles
  • Operating model analyses and improvements, across skills, process and technology
  • Sales and account management tools and processes
